PET FRIENDLY PLANTS AND FLOWERS

Hello!  I hope this letter finds you, your family and your pet family members well and in good spirits.

This morning while walking through rows and rows of blooming trees, flowers, vines and bushes at Lowes and Home Depot, I decided what my topic would be this month.

There are many decisions to make while trying to decide the layout of your landscape, but few of us think about the plants that could be poisonous to both our children and our pets. Here are just a few that you should try to avoid while planting your spring and summer flowers:  Yellow Jasmine, Wisteria, Oleander, Sago Palm, Lantana, Morning Glory, Lily of The Valley, and Iris. Many of each part of these plants are poisonous, such as the oleander.  The leaves, flower, stems, everything, could be harmful if digested.  The last place I think any of us would like to be is in an emergency room.  A great website to visit for more information on pet friendly landscape plants is The Humane Society. Take time to read through it.  It is full of all sorts of pet information.

I would also like to tell those of you who are reading this; I am trying my best to update my website on my own.  So when you see pictures upside down, copy all different colors, just giggle and please be patient.  I am not giving up anytime soon.

On another topic, Spring Break was my first full week as a professional pet sitter and it was great.  I met many new friends, their pets, and even got some well needed exercise!  I would like to thank Barley, Bella, Tigger, Smokey, Dottie, Lacey, Bandit and Copper for making my first week such a success.  I look forward to seeing you all again in the future.
